Healthy Hot Chocolate

Hey folks,
is it as cold as in Vienna at your place? Although the sun was shining in the last few days, it's really cold and windy too. Best time for hot chocolate in my opinion!
I went for a healthy recipe this time and combined coconut milk and cocoa powder with a hint of orange and lemon. In addition I left out refined sugar completely and used agave syrup instead. Yummy!

On the ice
Hello you lovelies,
I wish you all a beautiful start in the new week! How were your weekends? Hopefully good?!
David and I went ice skating today and it was real fun! We went to Engelmann, a very nice skating ground in Vienna's 17th district (although I guess nothing will ever top the ice rink in front of the castle in Budapest). Although Engelmann is just a seven minute walk away from our apartment I didn't have a clue it existed until some days ago, because the skating ground is actually located on a rooftop, which is an extra bonus in my opinion. :)

Winter (Play) Time
Hello everybody,
last week the snow finally came to Vienna! :)
Since then it has left and come again but I definitely took the chance to spend some time in the white wonderland. Last week for example David and I took a small walk through Vienna's university campus before we stopped for sweet and salty pies in the lovely pie factory. If you are in or come to Vienna you should definitely give it a try - the pies are delicious!

The Blue Winter Dress
Hello everybody,
Punch and cookies, where are you? I am ready for you! :)
May I introduce you to my favourite new blue winter dress? It's by cos and I immediately fell in love with the color when I saw it hanging in the store. Combined with my beloved "Christmas fascinator" and sparkly socks I think it makes for a perfect Advent outfit... :)

Winterly Cabbage Stew
Hi folks,
originally Katja came up with the recipe I'm going to present today. Since the first time she's cooked it in the theater's office kitchen it became one of my favourite winter dishes: cabbage stew with potatoes, lentils and a hint of tomato. Yummy! :)

Baby it's Cold Outside
Hello everybody,
although it's not really winter yet, it's aready freezing cold here in Austria. Luckily, there are fireplaces one can cosy up to! My mum has one in her house and every time I visit her now, I sit in front of it, read a book, drink a cup of tea, or simply watch the flames like hypnotized. :)
What do you do to warm up?

Sunny Saturday Walk
Hey folks,
today was a wonderful, sunny day in Vienna. Therefore my boyfriend and I decided to take a little walk at Augarten, a beautiful baroque park in Vienna's second district.
As outfit I chose the dress I bought in London last November and combined it with black polka dot tights and my warm ankle boots by KMB.

Knit + Stripes
Hey out there,
I'm in love with my new striped knit jumper (actually I'm wearing it right now ;)). It's so cozy and you can wear it with a pair of skinny jeans or some leather leggings.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Winter Veggie Cocos Curry Noodle Soup
Hey guys,
winter is still not really coming (and I know that this sounds weird in January, but we haven't had a single day of snow this winter yet!), but temperatures are freezing lately. I love to cook soups and stews to warm me up at this time of the year and today I want to show you my "winter veggie cocos curry noodle soup" recipe :) It's sounds more complicated than it actually is!
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 1/2 rutabaga
- 1/2 celery
- 2 carrots
- 1 zucchini
- 1 cup green beans
- rice noodles
- 1/2 cup cocos cream
- 2 garlic gloves
- 1cm ginger
- bonito (japanese dried tuna flakes)
- curcuma
- 1-2 vegetable stock cubes
- chilli flakes
Peel the rutabaga and the celery and cut them into small cubes or slices. Meanwhile heat about 2 liters of water and put 3 tablespoons of bonito in it. Cut the rest of the veggies into cubes or slices and chop the garlic and the ginger. Add everything to the bonito-water and add one vegetable stock cube. Let it cook for about 15 minutes.
Add as much curcuma as you like (I allways use a lot of curcuma, because it gives the soup a very nice and tasty colour!) and put the chili flakes in (I like to make my soups VERY hot ;)). Finally add the rice noodles and let it simmer for another 5 minutes. Then turn off your oven, add the coconut cream and stir well. Taste your soup and add some more salt, chili or curcuma if you like.
Bon appétit!

Zebras in Winter
Hi folks,
today I wanna show you one of my most favourite winter outfits. I bought it last year in Budapest (apart from the necklace), where I also spent the last few days (post is going to follow).
I simply love the little zebras on this shirt and I think the combination of zebras-shirt, skirt and hat is a very nice mix of elegant and cool and can be worn at every occasion (I at least did ;) ).

Winterly Salzburg
Hello everybody,
I hope all of you had wonderful Christmas, Santa Claus or Christkind brought you some nice presents and your bellies are still happily filled with Christmas delights and cookies... :)
Some weeks ago I went to Salzburg, probably Austria's second most known city (Mozart, Sound of Music, Salzburg Festival etc.), for an appointment, a little sighseeing and some shopping. Salzburg is actually a lovely city with an impressive old town although I probably wouldn't like to live there permanently as it's a little too posh for me. Nevertheless for a day trip (or two, or three ;) ) it's quite perfect and there are some really cool places within the town boudaries as well.
I started the day with a relaxed and really tasty breakfast at Republic Café which is located in the building of the former Stadtkino ("city cinema") and is not only a café but also one of Salzburg's coolest concert and party locations.
On my way to Republic Café I passed the beautiful Salzach, the river that passes through Salzburg. The castle you can see on the hill is Fortress Hohensalzburg which was built in 1077 and is the biggest complete extant castle in Middle Europe.
Just like on Paris' Pont Neuf you can also find locks on Salzburg's Markatsteg.
The Großes Festspielhaus is one of famous Salzburg's Festival most important venues. It was opened in 1960 with a performance of Richard Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier" and holds seats for 2179 people (more details can be found here).
Salzburg's most famous shopping street is Getreidegasse where you can find all stores of well known brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hallhuber, Mango etc. If you are looking for something more individual you should also check out Getreidegasse's side roads where you can find really nice small boutiques as well. One of them is Crai, a small and very colourful store where you can find dresses, shoes, handbags and accessories, also from green brands such as Armed Angels.
If you are gettin hungry after all this running around you can check out Café Fingerlos, a rather typical Austrian café where you can get very good soups and snacks, a (great) variety of breakfast variations (no worries, you can also breakfast in the afternoon there) and lots of very good pastries, such as this chestnut cupcake you see below. Yummy!!

Hot Punch: Warms you from inside
Hi folks,
what could you make feel warm in winter faster than a cup of tasty hot punch? Therefore my boyfriend and I cooked a pot for our friends yesterday and here comes the recipe.
What you'll need
- 750ml water
- 1 organic orange
- 1 organic lemon
- fresh ginger
- rum
- sugar
Boil up the water.
Cut the oranges and lemons into small pieces and the ginger into thin slices.
Squash the fruit with a cooking spoon or similar and sieve the fruit into a bowl or jug.
Continue squashing and put the fruit pulp (without the fruit skins) back into the pot.
Add glühwein spices (we used two teabags) and sugar as you like. If you don't get the spices ready-made you can mix the spice blend yourself out of cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.
Finally add rum as you prefer and enjoy! :)
